Coronary Circulation

This book gives an account of the modern view of the global circulation of the atmosphere. It accounts for the observed nature of the circulation and theories and simple models of the mechanisms that drive it. Early chapters concentrate on the classical view of the global circulation, on the processes that generate atmospheric motions, and on the dynamical constraints that modify them. Later chapters develop more recent themes including low frequency variability and the circulation of other planetary atmospheres. Each chapter includes a set of problems.

This new edition of Hemodynamic Rounds provides an expanded series of case studies demonstrating the importance of hemodynamic measurements in understanding cardiac pathology. Coronary circulation - The coronary circulation consists of the blood vessels that supply blood to, and remove blood from, the heart. The vessels that supply blood high in oxygen to the heart are known as coronary arteries.

Coronary catheterization - A coronary catheterization is a minimally invasive procedure to access the coronary circulation and blood filled chambers of the heart using a catheter. It is performed for both diagnostic and interventional (treatment) purposes.

Coronary artery bypass surgery - A coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) or heart bypass is a surgical procedure performed in patients with coronary artery disease (see atherosclerosis) for the relief of angina and possible improved heart muscle function. Veins or arteries from elsewhere in the patient's body are grafted from the aorta to the coronary arteries, bypassing coronary artery narrowings caused by atherosclerosis and improving the blood supply to the myocardium (heart muscle).

Coronary heart disease - Coronary heart disease (CHD), also called coronary artery disease (CAD) and atherosclerotic heart disease, is the end result of the accumulation of atheromatous plaques within the walls of the arteries that supply the myocardium (the muscle of the heart).
